I lived for over ten years in the San Francisco Bay Area, mostly Palo Alto. We still have friends and family there and have visited often. When we are there, we frequently visit Shoreline, the Pacific Ocean coast and the hills in-between, less often the city itself and the national parks beyond. There is so much variety so immediately accessible, it's easy to get out and explore for the wonder.
